Training

We run separate training courses for both Accountants and Business Owners/Individuals

Training for Accountants

A Tax Enquiry (i.e. an Investigation) carried out by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) can be a stressful time - Not only for your clients but also for you.
Most accountants don't handle this type of work on a regular basis and therefore simply lack the experience or expertise to be able to achieve the best possible results for their clients.
We aim to provide a solution by offering you training in how to handle Tax Enquiry work.

Who Should Attend?

Our Tax Investigations Course is ideally suited to sole practitioners or small firms who do not regularly handle Tax Enquiry work. The course covers Tax Enquiries into Sole Traders, Partnerships and Companies under Self Assessment.
The aim is to provide you with an understanding of Tax Investigations and the skills required to obtain the best possible results for your clients.

You will be provided with valuable tips on minimising the chances of a client being selected for a Tax Enquiry, together with guidance on the tactics to be used to ensure the best possible settlement is reached in the event of a client being selected for an Enquiry.
Many of the issues highlighted throughout the course will be backed up by examples taken from actual cases handled by us - therefore providing those attending the course with a real insight into the whole process of a Tax Enquiry.

Location
Courses are held in Birmingham and London and also at other UK locations depending on demand.

Costs
Our half-day Tax Investigations Course costs £179 + VAT.

Training For Business Owners and Individuals

Any Business Owner or Individual who has been subjected to a Tax Enquiry (i.e. an Investigation) carried out by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will tell you how stressful they can be.
If, during an Investigation, HMRC find that you have made errors they will often make wild assumptions regarding the scale of these errors - usually presuming any issues have been going on for many years - therefore providing you with potentially a very large tax bill. HMRC usually adopt a 'guilty until proven innocent' attitude, which only adds to this nightmare scenario.

Our course How To Avoid Tax Investigations aims to prevent you from ever experiencing this, firstly by minimising your chances of being selected for a Tax Enquiry and secondly by ensuring that if you are investigated, you will be in a position to keep any liability to the absolute minimum.

Who Should Attend?

How To Avoid Tax Investigations is aimed at Individuals, Sole Traders, Partnerships and Companies who have to complete Self Assessment Tax Returns.
The course is particularly useful to small business owners who are generally most vulnerable.

We explain to you how HMRC select their Tax Investigation cases and therefore how to avoid being selected yourself. The course also highlights the many day-to-day errors that Individuals and Business Owners make that can come back to haunt them during a Tax Investigation. We then show you procedures and practices that you can put in place now that will ensure that in the event of you being selected for Investigation, you are in the best position to minimise any tax bill.
